Marty is responsible for Boulder’s overall success and for creating, planning, implementing and integrating the organization’s strategic direction. As such, he is accountable for Boulder’s overall leadership and management, and for its strategic and operational performance.
Marty brings more than 30 years of energy industry experience to Boulder. Before becoming Boulder’s CEO, he co-founded DeeThree Exploration Ltd. and led the company from negligible production into the intermediate producer class. Prior to that Marty founded and led Dual Exploration Inc. and Devlan Exploration Inc. He has also served on numerous energy companies’ Boards of Directors.
Clayton is responsible for the execution of Boulder’s geophysical and geological activities. He is accountable for leading his team in identifying and securing a top-tier resource portfolio for Boulder through exploration of new and emerging plays across the Company’s extensive land base. His team has emphasized and achieved success in converting unconventional oil and liquids-rich gas reservoirs in multiple zones to production through horizontal drilling.
Clayton has focused intently on the Belly River play at Brazeau since 2011. Before becoming Boulder’s President, Clayton was Vice President Exploration at DeeThree Exploration Ltd., contributing to the company’s growth from 400 boe per day to nearly 13,000 boe per day. Prior to that, Clayton spent over a decade working on a variety of properties and play types at Cenovus Energy and Encana Corporation.
Robin’s responsibilities include overseeing all of Boulder’s production and operations, including drilling, completions, facilities, environmental protection and safety. He is accountable for achieving operational excellence and optimizing base production to reduce costs, increase netbacks and enhance profitability.
Robin graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of industry experience. Before becoming Boulder’s Chief Operating Officer, Robin was Business Development Manager at DeeThree Exploration Ltd. From October 2010 to January 2013 he was an independent businessman. Prior to that, he co-founded Cequence Energy Ltd. in December 2008 and was its Vice President, Operations until September 2010. Before that, Robin was the Operations Manager at Cyries Energy and prior to that held various engineering positions with Cequel Energy, PrimeWest Energy and Cypress Energy. He is a Professional Engineer registered with APEGA.
Casey directs Boulder’s financial operations and ensures the Company has the financial resources to execute its strategy. She oversees a team accountable for the Company’s financial, risk and compliance functions including accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, risk management, audit, financial performance and analysis, treasury, tax, human resources, information systems and insurance.
Before becoming Boulder’s CFO, Casey was the Controller of DeeThree Exploration Ltd, beginning in 2011. She began her accounting career in Edmonton in 2005 with global professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, moving to Calgary in 2008 and spending six years in public practice with various oil and natural gas producing clients. Casey holds a B.Comm. from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) degree from the University of Saskatchewan, receiving her Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 2008.
Trevor is responsible for land negotiations, acquisitions, divestments and strategic planning initiatives. He is a key member of the Boulder team in the development of corporate strategy, generating deals and partner relationships. Trevor directs and manages surface, landowner, environmental planning, native consultation and legal issues.
A member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen, Trevor has 15 years of experience in land administration, contracts and negotiation. Prior to becoming Boulder’s Executive Vice President, he was Vice President, Land, with DeeThree Exploration Ltd. and before that held various senior positions with Cyries Energy Inc., PrimeWest Energy Trust, Calpine Canada and Encal Energy Ltd. Trevor holds a B.Comm. in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Calgary.
Scott is responsibile for reservoir engineering management at Boulder, including execution of the Company’s enhanced oil recovery (EOR) gas re-injection schemes, which are a key value-enhancing strategic initiative for Boulder. Scott has 20 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry.
Prior to becoming Boulder’s Vice President of Engineering, Scott was the Executive Vice President of Engineering for Rock Energy Inc. Scott has held various management and engineering positions, primarily with junior-sized companies such as Standard Exploration, Merit Energy Corp, Ross Smith Sousa, and Vault Energy Trust. Scott holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Montana, graduating with honors. He is a professional engineer registered with APEGA.
Board of Directors
Kent is focused on the origination, structuring and execution of new investment opportunities in the exploration and production industry. His responsibilities also include working closely with ARC's portfolio companies on corporate strategy, risk management, strategy execution and financial matters. Kent currently represents ARC as a board observer of Aspenleaf Energy Limited and KANATA Energy Group Ltd.
Kent joined ARC in 2011, with 5 years as an engineer at a major multi-national oil and gas company with assignments in drilling and new business development. His education includes an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.Sc. in Engineering from the Robert Gordon University, a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Calgary and a designated P.Eng. in Alberta. Kent is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Chris Seasons is a Senior Advisor and Director at ARC Financial Corp. He provides leadership support for the executive team in the areas of strategy & risk management, as well as investment decision-making. He brings over 30 years of operating experience covering all facets of the Canadian upstream oil and gas industry. Chris is a member of ARC's Investment and Strategy committees.
Previously, he served as President of Devon Canada Corp. for over 10 years. He successfully grew Devon Canada's heavy oil operation from 15,000 barrels per day to 90,000 barrels per day. Prior experience includes a large multi-national, both domestically and internationally, and a junior Calgary based exploration & acquisition company. He currently also sits on the Board of Directors for Toro Oil and Gas Ltd., Serafina Energy Ltd., Longshore Resources Ltd., Steelhead Petroleum Ltd., and the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and was previously the Chairman of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. He is a former director of the United Way of Calgary & Area and former Co-Chair of the Calgary United Way campaign. Chris has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
Derek Christie is a Senior Energy Executive and Professional Geologist with over 28 years of wide-ranging experience across North American Basins in both Conventional and Unconventional Reservoir Exploration and Development. Mr. Christie is currently the Senior Vice President of Geosciences at Surge Energy, a position he has held since 2019. He has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1991, having held a variety of technical and management positions with companies, including Crescent Point Energy, Shelter Bay Energy, Mission Oil and Gas, StarPoint Energy, Vintage Petroleum Canada and Rio Alto Exploration. Most recently, he was the Senior Vice President of Exploration & Corporate Development at Crescent Point Energy and was employed with the company for over 12 years. During this period, he held various Senior Management positions in Exploration, Geosciences and Corporate Development. During his tenure with Crescent Point Energy, the company grew from 35,000 boepd to over 175,000 boepd, both through organically generated opportunities and complimented with numerous strategic acquisitions.
Derek is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Boulder Energy and Highrock Resources. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Calgary and is a member of both the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan and a Graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
